Join Us for the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
Date: Tuesday, September 17, 2024
Time: 10:00 AM
Location: Neary Lagoon (Meet at the walkway intersection near Blackburn St. Entrance)

This celebration will unveil the new floating walkway and interpretive signage, which will enhance the visitor experience while supporting habitat conservation and environmental education.

“Neary Lagoon is a unique and special place where our community can enjoy connecting with nature just a short distance from the hustle and bustle of downtown. Since 2010 local students have come to this beautiful park on field trips to learn about its habitats, wildlife, and conservation. The Santa Cruz Museum of Natural History is proud to share that learning experience through new interpretive signs with all who visit here to inspire stewardship and care.” – Felicia Van Stolk, Executive Director, SCMNH

“We’re excited to have partnered with the Public Works Department and the Santa Cruz Museum of Natural History to bring these much-needed improvements to Neary Lagoon. This project not only highlights our commitment to environmental stewardship but also provides an educational and accessible space for the entire community to enjoy and connect with nature,” said Tony Elliot, Director of the City of Santa Cruz Parks & Recreation Department.

We invite community members, nature enthusiasts, and families to come celebrate this important milestone in preserving and exploring one of Santa Cruz’s natural treasures.
