New event highlights Santa Cruz Mountains appellation with history panel, tastings, and industry archival collections on view
SANTA CRUZ, CA — The Santa Cruz Museum of Art & History (MAH) is pleased to announce tickets are on sale for its newest event, Rootstock Santa Cruz, a tasting benefit on Saturday, November 5 from 1pm to 5:30pm at the museum.
Tickets are $150 per person (includes history panel, private samplings, and Grand Tasting) or $75 per person (Grand Tasting only). For information on tickets and sponsorship opportunities, please visit www.santacruzmah.org/rootstock.
“We are excited to introduce this event to our greater community,” said Nikki Patterson, MAH’s Development and Communications Director. “The Santa Cruz Mountains AVA is a unique and diverse terroir reflected by the wines produced here and the people that make them. The MAH is the perfect venue to showcase this rich history and art of winemaking in Santa Cruz.”
Focused on craft and regionality, the event program starts at 1:00 pm with a Santa Cruz Mountains history panel discussion with tasting, followed by a Grand Tasting at 2:30 pm featuring select wineries and varietals. Industry archive collections will also be on display and the museum’s galleries will be open for viewing.
Panelists include: John Bargetto (Bargetto Winery), Barry Jackson (Equinox Winery), Prudy Foxx (Foxx Viticulture), Jeffrey Patterson (Mount Eden Vineyards), David Amadia (Ridge Vineyards), Jeff Emery (Santa Cruz Mountain Vineyard), with panel moderator John Locke (Birichino).
Participating wineries include: Aptos Vineyard, Bargetto Winery, Big Basin Vineyards, Birichino, Bonny Doon Vineyard, El Vaquero Winery, Equinox Winery, Madson Wines, Mount Eden Vineyards, Ridge Vineyards, Santa Cruz Mountain Vineyard, Ser Winery, Silver Mountain Vineyards, Sones Cellars, and Storrs Winery & Vineyard.
Additional support is provided by Edible Monterey Bay, Foxx Viticulture, Friends of Santa Cruz Public Libraries, Gabriella Café, Oswald, San Lorenzo Valley Museum, Santa Cruz Public Libraries, and Santa Cruz Mountains Winegrowers Association.
All proceeds benefit the Santa Cruz Museum of Art & History.
